Continuous home activities to be practiced regularly

• Help your child form oral sentences using all the sight words introduced. (Refer to the sight words page on this website)
• Recap all the sounds and digraphs introduced so far- s,a,t,i,p,n,c,k,e,h,r,m,d,g,o,u,l,f,b,j,v,w,z,x,y,ee,ch, vowels: a,e,i,o,u
• Read 3 letter CVC (consonant vowel consonant) /a/e/i/o/u/ words with your child.

Here are examples of some CVC words for each vowel. Once done you can introduce more words like these to your child.

1. /a/: mat, bat, cat, mat, cap, pat, sat, lap
2. /e/: end, pen, hen, ten, elf, bed, web, net
3. /i/: lid, pin, pig, tin, wig, win, tip, pit
4. /o/: top, pot, log, cot, dog, hop, mop, dot
5. /u/: sun, bun, gun, fun, mug, hug, hut, nut

• Practice oral counting numbers 1 to 50
• Practice numbers before middle and after
• Practice writing number 1 to 50

Note: Take a print out and complete work on all worksheets attached/scanned in the home activity segment. Kindly compile all the worksheets in a folder and send it with you ward once school reopens.

• Write sounds /a/ to /e/ on the dots as shown.
• Write numbers from 1 to 20 using place value system.
• Game: To work on place value, play this simple game with your child. Materials required: Pencils and seeds(channa/kidney beans etc) Introduce pencils as tens and seeds as units.

Ask your child to get the number 14 using pencils and seeds. They should get 1 pencil and 4 seeds to make the number 14. Next give them another number, say 27. They should get 2 pencils and 7 seeds to make the number 27. This way help them with the first few numbers and then encourage them to count independently.

How to do: Try collecting all the objects seen in the worksheet. Hold it in front of your child and ask him to identify it as opaque or transparent. Use it in oral sentences.

Explain the meaning of /go/ orally and visually (actions).

Encourage children to give 1 or 2 oral sentences using the sight word.

Math:

• Activity on simple addition- Take two bowls. In one bowl put 2 seeds and in the other bowl put 3 seeds. Give another empty bowl to the child and ask him/her to transfer all the seeds from bowl 1 and bowl 2 into the 3^rd bowl. Now, ask the child to count all the seeds in the 3^rd bowl. Once the activity is completed you can say, two seeds and three seeds together, makes five.

Repeat the activity with other numbers.

• Addition activity 1: To do a simple addition activity at home, refer to the image below. After each round ask your child to write down the sum in the math class notebook. (3+4=7)
• The instructions are mentioned below. TIP: In case dice is not available yo can write down numbers from 1 to 6 on square pieces of paper.

Instruction : Hands-on activity to consolidate the concept of addition. Have your child roll two dice and then place the pegs on the coat hanger to show the two numbers rolled. This provides them with concrete materials to then count the total.

On an A4 sheet or half an A4 sheet write down some large numbers between 1 to 30 and stick a few sheet on different walls all around the house. Call out one of the numbers by saying "Can you go find 24 and bring it to me" and your child has to go from wall to wall, room to room looking for that number and get it to you.

VARIATION: After a few days you can do a variation to this activity. You can ask the child to get any of the numbers and then ask them "Can you tell me which number you got?"

Draw a circular shape on the floor with chalk or put sheets of newspaper together and fix it on the floor and draw a circular shape on it. Show your child how to play the game, when you say 'in' they have to jump inside the circle and when you say 'out' they have to jump out of the circle.
